Attention: Athletes and Parents of Athletes Turning 18 at Any Time During a Season
Athletes turning 18 at any time during the season have several important requirements to keep in mind.

Accounts
Members turning 18 during the season will need to be the primary member on their online account in order to access certain information needed for membership. If your child fits in this age group, please have them take a few minutes to create their own account here.

SafeSport Training
SafeSport training is required for members ages 17 and over at the time of registration to activate their membership. There is no grace period for SafeSport training.

It’s important for members to create their SafeSport accounts under their own email addresses. SafeSport’s system requires a unique email address for each person. U.S. Ski & Snowboard can help update SafeSport usernames and passwords. It’s important for users to maintain training under one account. Please avoid creating multiple accounts.

Background Screening
U.S. Ski & Snowboard falls under the USOPC’s background screening policy. All members, excluding short term members and alpine masters not participating with minor athletes, are required to undergo periodic background checks. Athlete’s must wait until their 18th birthday to register for screening. They then have 45 days to complete the screening process and receive a green light determination. Failure to complete the process results in members being placed on pending status and athletes being removed from points list until screening is complete. As such, members are ineligible for participation until screening is complete.

Introduction to Avalanches
The brief Introduction to Avalanches Course is required for members turning 18 at any time during the season. Members will need to be the primary person on their account in order to complete the course through their online account. The course takes 10-15 minutes.
